Alright, I’m Barry.
I had a gastric sleeve just over eighteen months ago. Before that I spent a long time reading everything I could find online and feeling more confused by the end of it than when I started. Half of it was written like a medical textbook. The other half was somebody’s forum post from 2014 that scared the life out of me.
So this site is the thing I wish I’d had. No jargon you need a dictionary for. No pretending the hard days aren’t hard. Just straight, honest information from someone who’s actually done the liver diet, actually had the surgery, and actually lived through the early weeks of eating a teaspoon of puree and calling it dinner.
I’m not a doctor and I won’t pretend to be one. Everything here is written to sit alongside what your surgical team tells you, not instead of it. When something’s a medical decision, I’ll always point you back to them.
What you will get from me is the stuff that’s harder to find. What day two of the liver diet actually feels like. What to pack in your hospital bag that nobody mentions. How to answer your nosy aunt at Christmas. The small, practical, human bits of this whole process.
Whether you’re still deciding, counting down the days to surgery, or years into your new normal, you’re in the right place. Have a look around, use the tools, and know that every single thing on here comes from someone who’s been exactly where you are.
